F5: Ex-MEGADETH Bassist DAVID ELLEFSON Offers Taste Of New Band
September 11, 2004F5, the new Phoenix-based band featuring former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson, ex-SICK SPEED vocalist Dale Steele, drummer David Small, and guitarists Steve Conley and John Davis, have uploaded a track called "Dissidence" at their official web site. You must be registered on the web site to download or stream the track. It is a DRM-protected download, but you will be able to burn it to a CD. If you want to share the download with a friend, they will need to register on the site before playing it. "Dissidence" "probably won't be the first single off the [band's upcoming debut album], but it is a GREAT hard-hitting track that you guys will love!" reads a statement sent to the group's mailing list. "Actually, you will LOVE the entire CD! The band can't wait to get it out (sorry, no release date yet)." An F5 e-card, featuring "a little taste of a few songs along with some studio footage and photos" can be accessed at this location.
"Dissidence" comes off F5's recently completed five-song demo/CD, which they are currently using to procure a record deal. The group, whose sound is being described as guitar-heavy melodic hard rock, recorded the effort at a Phoenix-area studio with producer Ryan Greene, who had previously worked with Ellefson on the demos for MEGADETH's "Countdown to Extinction" album back in 1991. Other songtitles appearing on the CD are "Fall to Me", "Bleeding", "What I Am" (EDIE BRICKELL AND THE NEW BOHEMIANS cover) and "Hold Me Down".
F5 will be performing at the Venue of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday, September 11. Support at the show will come from the Arizona-based hard rock band PRIMARY.
